Bamboo Shoots
Bamboo shoots are the crisp, mild-flavored, ivory shoots of the bamboo plant.
Black Bean Sauce
A popular Chinese marinade, this flavorful and pungent condiment is a blend of fermented black beans and spices such as garlic or chilies.
Chinese Roast Pork
This is also called Char Sui. It has a reddish brown colour and has a slightly charred look around the edges. It has a sweet flavour and is a classic staple of the chinese kitchen.
Chop Suey
Literally means mixed pieces, a Chinese-American dish consisting of bits of meat and bamboo shoots beansprouts, onions, spring onions and mushrooms, cooked in its own juices.
Chow Mein
Chow mein is chinese for fried noodles. We use a yellow coloured, wheat flour noodle.
Foo Yung
This is the chinese version of an omlette. It is made with egg and beansprouts.
Kung Po
Also spelt Kung Pao. A fruity sweet and sour dish, infused with chilli, and garnished with nuts.
Oyster Sauce
A rich sauce made from boiled oysters and seasonings. Despite being made of oysters, the sauce does not have a fishy taste or smell. It has a savoury flavor and is used in meat and vegetable dishes. It is also used as a topping for steamed vegtables.
Satay
Chunks of meat served in a spicy peanut sauce.
Sweet & Sour
Sweet and sour sauce is a popular sauce used in Chinese cuisine. It is commonly made with sugar and rice vinegar, with soy sauce, or tomatoes added for color.
